Fall Biscotti is Arriving at Jellybeans Children's Boutique

Every day we are receiving at least three new boxes of Fall Merchandise. Biscotti and Baby Biscotti are high on our list of favorite brands. Alan is at Wildlife Adventure Camp

My oldest grandson Alan, 1st row ,1st camper, is in the Ocala National Forest this week at the Fl Game and Fish Commission's wildlife conservation camp. His Dad and Aunt Jenny went every summer to the same camp from age 8 to age 14. They always had a great time and often were chosen camper of the week. The camp teaches hunter safety and respect of wildlife as well as the traditional activities such as swimming, archery, hiking, building bridges and social skills. One time Michael came home with a horrific case of poison ivy and Jenny had redbugs everywhere! A game warden lives on the grounds and does a terrific job of instructing the young campers. Pictured above are the campers from the Bobcat Cabin. I hope you are having tons of fun Alan.

Yummy Banana Pudding Bars at Jellybeans Children's Boutique

Jellybeans Favorite Banana Pudding Bars

Everyone loves banana pudding. If you need a quick dessert to carry to a picnic or church supper, but don't want to mess with bowls and a large bulky trifle dish, these banana pudding bars are delicious. I found the recipe on a Philadelphia Cream Cheese Box and it has become a favorite.

These banana squares are amazing for two reasons. They’re full of creamy banana flavor and they’re full of creamy banana flavor! If you’re a fan of banana, this might just be the dessert of your dreams!

Banana Pudding Squares
35 Reduced Fat NILLA Wafers, finely crushed
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) margarine, melted
1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tub (8 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, divided
3 bananas
2 pkg. (1.5 oz. each) JELL-O Vanilla Flavor Instant Pudding
3 cups cold milk
1/2 square BAKER’S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, grated
COMBINE crumbs and margarine; press onto bottom of 13×9-inch dish. Refrigerate while preparing filling.
MIX cream cheese and sugar in medium bowl until blended. Stir in 1-1/2 cups COOL WHIP; spread carefully onto crust. Set aside. Cut bananas crosswise in half, then cut each piece lengthwise in half. Arrange over cream cheese mixture.
BEAT pudding mixes and milk with whisk 2 min. Spoon over bananas. Spread with remaining COOL WHIP; sprinkle with chocolate. Refrigerate 3 hours before serving.

Major League Baseball 4 ALS

Major League Baseball has done a great job of raising awareness and money for ALS research and the families of AlS sufferers. The July 4th Lou Gehrig's Day was a great tribute to "the luckiest man alive" and all of the brave men and women who have struggled with the disease. Thanks for keeping Lou Gehrig's memory alive and supporting the many families who need an extra boost.

A Favorite Summer Breakfast For The Kids

I came across this recipe while reading Taste of the South recipe and know that my grandchildren will enjoy it for our 4th of July gathering. They will think that they are eating dessert for breakfast-and it almost tastes just as good.

Breakfast Cobbler

2 Tablespoons butter

6 apples peeled, cored and cut into one inch chunks

1 Tablespoon light brown sugar

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

2 tablespoons fresh blueberries

8 oz good quality granola

1/4 cup vanilla yogurt

In a large skiller, melt butter over medium high heat. Add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cloves, tossing to combine. Cook until apples release their juices and have just begun to soften, approximately 10 minutes. Divide apples among 6 serving bowls. Top each with blueberries, granola, and yogurt. Serve warm.

While we were at market this month, I made my regular stop at the children's book showroom. I love books and always overbuy in this area. The new selection was fun and humorous with many new title and gift ideas. Shown above are three of our favorites that just arrived today. Even Firefighters Go To The Potty is a great lift the flap training story. The Jellybeans and the Big Dancer is a fun story that we just had to have. My family all wanted Paula Deen's My First Cookbook as it has many tips for measuring and shortcuts as well as kid friendly recipes.

CVS Pharmacy Kicks Off ALS Donations

Each year CVS Pharmacy teams with the ALS Therapy Alliance to help find a cure for Lou Gehrig's Disease. Please donate $1 at the register as you pick up your prescription. 100% of all donations goes directly to research. As many of you know, ALS reasearch is dear to our hearts here at www.shopjellybeans.com. My husband, Walter, passed away four years ago this week with this horrible disease. There is no treatment and no cure. Please help with this researching a cure project. The CVS donation ends in July.

A few months ago, Kelly and I decided that we needed to step up our marketing and advertise in a national magazine. MeMe's Potato Salad - Here's the Secret

Whenever we have a family gathering or special occasion, I am always asked to bring the potato salad. I have tried to tell my family and friends exactly how it is made, but they swear that it doesn't taste the same. Here are the secrets. Use five pounds red skinned potatoes. Peel and boil cubes of potatoes in well salted water. Throw in three eggs to boil around the last ten minutes-this just saves on clean up time. When done, drain potatoes and leave in pot to cool. This is what helps them keep their shape and not turn into mashed potato salad. When completely cool start adding mayo or Miracle Whip-never use reduced fat-and squirt in mustard. Salt and pepper again to taste. Chop boiled eggs and use Mt Olive sweet gherkins that have been cubed into small pieces-pickle relish just doesn't get it. Add chopped olives stuffed with pimentos for their tart flavor and color. You have to taste as you go-keep plenty of spoons available to avoid double dipping. Add mayo and mustard until you get that perfect blend of flavors. We don't add onions or celery, because the children and Michael just can't stand either raw. If done right, this recipe creates the perfect potato salad-at least as far as the Bailey's are concerned. Remember, completely cool the potatoes and never use pickle relish-always chopped gherkins. Oh, I almost forgot another secret, pour in a little pickle juice when adding in the gherkins. YUMMY!
