Monday Night Madness

Ok Girls, You're tired the kids are hungry-if you have leftover chicken or a package of the precooked strips, this is a great recipe for your family. It has been in all of the magazines this month and is a keeper. I changed the recipe from Mushroom soup to cream of chicken and added more cheese. Dinner bakes while you are shopping at http://www.shopjellybeans.com/ .

Hearty Chicken Noodle Casserole

1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell's® Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup (Regular, 98% Fat Free or 25% Less Sodium)

1/2 cup milk

1 cup frozen mixed vegetables

2 cups cubed cooked chicken

1/4 of a 12-ounce package medium egg noodles (about 2 cups), cooked and drained

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
Directions:
Heat the oven to 400°F. Stir the soup, milk, vegetables, chicken, noodles, Parmesan cheese and black pepper in a 1 1/2-quart casserole.
Bake for 25 minutes or until the chicken mixture is hot and bubbling. Stir the chicken mixture. Top with the cheese.
Tip: Easy casseroles like this one are a simple way to transform leftovers. Cooked chicken, turkey or ham will all work in this recipe.
Serving Suggestion: Serve with a steamed vegetable blend: broccoli, cauliflower and carrots and a Caesar salad. For dessert serve fresh strawberries topped with whipped topping.
Cost per recipe: $5.46
Cost per recipe serving: $1.36
Total cost of meal (including serving suggestion): $14.25

Food Festival with Tyler

One of the perks of working on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach is that my middle daughter gets invited to events and parties through her special customers. This last week she was invited to a party during the food festival in South Beach. The special guest and chef was food network's Tyler Florence. We are all food network junkies so this was a big deal for our family. Tyler made his special paella recipe and visited with the guests. I wish that he would come to Wauchula for a Main Street event-tee hee-dream on!

Hagan Visited Jellybeans

We had a surprise this week when the front door bell chimed and there was Hagan. He brought his mama and Grandma to Jellybeans for a little visit and shopping trip. He came to pick out an Easter outfit and shop for a few more winter outfits that were on our half price rack. He chose one of the cute Easter John John outfits from our Happy Easter category at www.shopjellybeans.com. Isn't he precious in his monogrammed romper from Mulberry Street.

Our little Jellybeans man!!

One of our favorite customers at Jellybeans is little Holler. He lives in North Carolina, but comes to visit Jellybeans when his mama and daddy bring him down to sunny Florida. I've known both his mom and dad since they were babies and he is the perfect combination of their personalities. Sweet and precious like his mama, and handsome, daring, and a great sportsman like his dad. Doesn't he look cute in his little outfits from www.shopjellybeans.com.

Remember Silhouettes on the Presidents Birthdays

Do you remember the days in school when Lincoln's birthday, Valentine's Day, and Washington's Birthday were all within a week of each other and such a break from that long haul between Christmas and the end of school. We didn't have spring break in those days and there was no such thing as teacher's work days. We always cut silhouettes for the presidents and put them on the wall in our classrooms. The lunch room fixed a remarkable yellow cake with real cherry topping-not canned pie filling for Washington's birthday. We made paper top hats for Lincoln's birthday and marched around the school wearing those hats. For the first time that I can remember, our schools are off for President's Day. I wonder if the county fair being this week had anything to do with that decision. There are a lot of families that are really busy with livestock, pageants, and shows. Do your children know how important those President's were to the freedoms that we all enjoy today? Do they associate Washington with the American Revolution and Lincoln with the Emancipation Proclamation? Take the time to share these famous Americans with your children.

Stubborn Stain Removal Tips from Jellybeans

We spend way too much money on our beautiful children's clothing to let a stain ruin a dress or an outfit. I have come across some great tips and have tried some of them out - they work. Our little sweeties have a way of finding that tube of lipstick or coloring your wallpaper. Berry stains can be very stubborn as can grass and bubble gum. You might want to print this out and keep by your washing machine for emergencies.

Fruit and Berry Stains

Fresh stains are easy to remove, but once dry, they are very obstinate. Treat with cool water first and follow up, if necessary, by soaking in a chlorinated laundry bleach or a diaper wash/sanitiser container sodium percarbonate. Rinse.
White cottons and linens may be stretched over a basin and boiling water poured through from a height. Any remaining stain may be removed with chlorinated laundry bleach.
Coloured fabrics or washable silk, etc., may be soaked in a diaper wash/sanitiser container sodium percarbonate or a warm borax solution (1 Tbsp. : 1 c water), or covered with a paste of cream of tartar and warm water. Leave half and hour or until stain goes, then rinse well.

Grass Stains

Soak in a solution of a chlorinated laundry bleach or a diaper wash/sanitiser container sodium percarbonate. OR sponge with methylated spirits (wood alcohol). Remove this with warm water and where possible wash the article using Laundry powder or Liquid.

Chewing Gum and Crayons

Candle wax and chewing gum can be effectively removed by placing the object that has been stained into a freezer until the staining agent is quite hard, and brittle, then the material can be literally shattered off the object that has been stained.
...then treat any residue as follows: place the stain between clean, white blotters and press with a warm iron, changing the blotter as it becomes soiled. Then sponge with dry cleaning fluid or a laundry pre-soak (spot stain remover).
In the case of coloured wax there may still be a colour stain. Sponge with a liquid made by adding ½ c of methylated spirits (wood alcohol) to ½ c water.

Treat crayons stains as for Candle wax. If on wallpaper, after scraping cover with blotting or brown paper, iron with warm iron, shifting paper repeatedly. Final traces may be covered with a paste of cornflour and cleaning fluid. Allow to dry, brush off and repeat if necessary.

Lipstick and Cosmeticse.g. eyeshadow, mascara, blusher - washing with your usual laundry product may remove these stains. Pre treat the dry fabric stain with a laundry pre-soak (spot stain remover). On an unwashable fabric, first try dry cleaning fluid.
If stains are stubborn, sponge with equal quantities of methylated spirits (wood alcohol) and household ammonia. (Test on coloured fabrics first). If colour fades, reduce ammonia by half and test again. Rinse in warm water, or wash if possible.

Which would you choose?

Amy's best friend from college lives in a suburb of Detroit and has always wanted her to come and visit in the winter. She is there now, and absolutely freezing-but enjoying the snow. The top pic shows her friend's pool area covered with snow. I didn't know that they even had pools in Detroit. Even though they live in NYC, they do not see much snow in the city, and it is a treat for a southern girl. When she returns today, she and a friend will be spending their last weekend home at our little beach hideaway. It is hard to believe that with plane travel two such diverse scenes can be only two hours from each other. Help your little ones get ready for beach weather by shopping at www.shopjellybeans.com. Our swimsuits are arriving and they will be on our site soon-check back often.

Carter is enrolled in Puppy Kindergarten

When Amy goes back to NYC next week, Carter is signed up to begin puppy kindergarten. He will learn how to socialize, walk the streets of New York-without being upset by the noise, proper etiquette at dog parks, and house training. The course is 6 weeks long and is for puppies 8-16 weeks old. Whoever heard of such-and believe me it is not cheap! Whoever heard of a crossbreed mutt-a yorkie and a poodle-being called a designer dog and on high demand? Times have changed, since we put a new puppy in a box and spanked him with a rolled up newspaper when he had an accident on the floor. I'd better stick to www.shopjellybeans.com where I am somewhat in my element.

"Carter" the famous YorkiePoo visits Jellybeans

My baby daughter, Amy, lives in a high rise apartment in New York. Every time I visit, I am in awe that almost everyone in her building has a dog-large, small, purebreds, mutts-all shapes and sizes. All she wanted for Christmas was the new Louis Vuitton bag and a puppy. Santa wasn't able to get the puppy before Christmas, so he has just entered our lives this week. The first night he slept in a box by her bed and did great. The second night, Carter cried all night and ended up in her bed. By the third night, we had bought a crate and I had moved him into my room. He was up crying at 2:30, 3:45, 5:30, and I finally got up at 6:50. Oh yeah, he also made a little mess in the crate. Last night, he was in my room again, and did not wake until 3:45. He had also made his mess. I walked him and our 14 year old Grandma dog who is dying of congestive heart failure at 4:00. All he did was play with the bows on my bedroom shoes and lie down on leaves and go to sleep. Meanwhile, Grandma decided to get a little energy and chase a squirrel. It's just a wonder that she is still alive. All this happened while sleeping beauty is in bed, nice and comfy. Tonight, Carter is sleeping in the guest room at the far end of the house. Pictured is Carter visiting my office at www.shopjellybeans.com, trying to chew the computer wires. Stay tuned, tomorrow I will tell all about puppy kindergarten in NYC.

Thanks from Jellybeans

We want to thank everyone for helping make 2008 a great year at Jellybeans. Things have really been hard for everyone with the crazy gas prices and then the bottom falling out of our economy. Retail has been quite different this year. We have had more sales and promotions and have cut way back on new merchandise. At spring market, we examined each piece more carefully and discussed quality, style, and price point. I think that we have come up with a nice selection of Easter dresses, play clothes, and shoes. We still have all of your favorite brands, but maybe not the higher priced pieces in each collection. We have started added new items in our Spring 2009 New Arrivals category. We want to give our great family and friends at www.shopjellybeans.com a step up on our fall and winter sale. Enter coupon code FRIENDS at checkout to receive an extra 25% off our fall and winter merchandise that has already been reduced 30% to 50%. Have fun shopping! This coupon good until January 2.
