Poetry in the Park at Jellybeans

We looked across the street this morning and the park was full of bright and eager aspiring poets from Wauchula Elementary School. Their creative juices were flowing, along with yummy lunches and juice boxes. The teachers were also enjoying a change of scenery and fresh air. Easter Bunny Cake at Jellybeans
Remember when the kids were little and we all made this fun cake each year. I came across the same photo and directions for this next generation of mom's to bake this year. It is very easy and a fun activity for the entire family. The recipe and directions are from pillsbury.com via www.shopjellybeans.com. Ingredients:Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray
1 (18.25 oz.)
package Pillsbury® Yellow Cake
1/3
cup Crisco® Pure Vegetable Oil
1
cup water
3
large eggs
2 (16 oz.)
cans Pillsbury® Classic White Frosting
2
cups flaked coconut
Red licorice strips
Jelly beans
Preparation Directions:
1.
HEAT oven to 350°F. Spray two 8-inch round cake pans with no-stick cooking spray. Prepare cake according to package directions using oil, water and eggs. Pour into prepared pans. Bake as directed. Cool 10 to 15 minutes before removing from pan. Cool completely.
2.
TURN one cooled cake layer upside down. Mark center of cake with toothpick. Measure about 2-inches in from two sides of cake lining up the toothpicks. Using the tip of a sharp knife, lightly draw a 2-inch wide x 6-inch long oval, football shape, to make the ears. Cut with a serrated knife. The middle part of the layer will be the "bow tie" for the bunny (see photo).
3.
PLACE whole cake layer in center of large tray. Place ears and bow tie, rounded side up, to make bunny. Frost entire surface and sides of cake, connecting the pieces together with frosting. Sprinkle with coconut. Cut licorice pieces for mouth and whiskers. Cut jelly beans in half for eyes, nose and bow tie.
TIP
To make green "grass" around bunny, toss an additional 1/2 cup coconut with a few drops of green food coloring until desired color. Place around base of bunny.

Walk to D'Feet ALS

The Bailey Family-Walter is far right
As some of you know, my husband Walter passed away from ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's disease 4 years ago this June. He was diagnosed in February and decided on no life prolonging procedures. He fought very bravely, but fought on his own and with the help of our wonderful family. My daughter Amy was a senior in high school when her Dad was sick is now a senior in college at the State University of New York's Fashion Institute in NYC. She has put together a team of friends to walk with her in the Greater New York walk to D'Feet ALS. The average cost of one years care for an ALS patient is $200,000. Many have to rely on the ALS association to provide many of the essentials. Please visit team Bailey's page and help us succeed with this very important event.

Maci Kate is growing up
One of our favorite little customers is Maci Kate. She is growing up, losing that baby face, and turning into a toddler right in front our eyes. Rumor is, there will soon be some changes taking place in her family. We love her and her sweet mama and grandmomma. She is wearing one of her cute Deux Par Deux outfits that came from www.shopjellybeans.com, of course. Doesn't her smile just melt your heart!!!Wednesday, March 11, 2009
Jordyn-Grace Dugger receives Jellybeans

I really enjoy watching the Dugger's Family show on TLC. Michelle, the mom, is so patient and sweet, yet expects the most from her children. The entire family works together to stay organized and happy. Little Jordyn-Grace was born in December and is their latest small miracle. Michelle loves smocking and therefore, I wanted to send a sweet little dress for the new baby. We decided on the blue gingham check smocked bishop dress by LeZaMe. I threw in a Jamie Rae headband, since the little girls are often seen wearing headbands. Michelle, I hope that you love the dress and will visit our website, http://www.shopjellybeans.com/.Tuesday, March 10, 2009
Book of the Month - Purplicious

Purplicious by Elizabeth Kann is a great tale of friendship and a little girls journey to stay true to herself. Pinkalicious loves all things pink, especially pink clothing. One day at school, the "cool" girls decide that pink stinks and is for babies. They all wear sophisticated black. Pinkalicious feels left out and alone until she finds a real friend. Your little girl will enjoy the pictures and story line of this new classic children's book.

I'm a Grandma again. Daniel and Jenny are the proud parents of baby girl Rally. She is nine weeks old, has dark hair and brown eyes, and weighs around 10 pounds. Baby and parents are doing fine with just a few minor mishaps. She is sleeping all night and a good eater. Rally is registered at www.shopjellybeans.com.My Hero - Tony Hseih - Zappos CEO
My role model and twitter mentor is Tony Hseih, the young and brilliant CEO of Zappos. Tony is one of those 30 something entrepreneurs that has it all right. Zappos is the place to go for shoes. I have been shopping there for years, and have never had a bad experience. They always have a great selection of any brand or style that strikes my fancy. Of course, Zappos is known for great customer service, their 365 day return policy, and free shipping - both ways. He thinks that the workplace should be a fun place and loves change and new ideas. Tony is guest star on this Sunday's night episode of The Apprentice. Tony, please visit www.shopjellybeans.com and give us a few pointers. This old dog needs some new tricks!Wednesday, March 4, 2009

My little Jellybeans girl is freezing!!
Amy sent this photo from her apartment window this morning. She got up to get ready for class and was greeted, happily I'm sure, with an email proclaiming that it is a SNOW DAY! Snow really isn't all that great in the city, unless you live close to Central Park. It soon turns to mush and mud and is kicked back on the sidewalks by the traffic. City snow is 100% guaranteed to ruin a good pair of leather boots!Sunday, March 1, 2009

Food Festival with Tyler

One of the perks of working on Worth Avenue in Palm Beach is that my middle daughter gets invited to events and parties through her special customers. This last week she was invited to a party during the food festival in South Beach. The special guest and chef was food network's Tyler Florence. We are all food network junkies so this was a big deal for our family. Tyler made his special paella recipe and visited with the guests. I wish that he would come to Wauchula for a Main Street event-tee hee-dream on!Thursday, February 19, 2009
Hagan Visited Jellybeans
We had a surprise this week when the front door bell chimed and there was Hagan. He brought his mama and Grandma to Jellybeans for a little visit and shopping trip. He came to pick out an Easter outfit and shop for a few more winter outfits that were on our half price rack. He chose one of the cute Easter John John outfits from our Happy Easter category at www.shopjellybeans.com. Isn't he precious in his monogrammed romper from Mulberry Street.
